For the past few years, the realm of investments has been receiving growing attention from the Egyptian government and its policy makers. Such growing attention is based on the significant role that investments could play in overcoming issues of development, unemployment, poverty, self-sufficiency, dependence on imports of vital commodities and low productivity among others. In this light, the aim of the first part of this report is to present a numerical and graphical overview of the investment patterns in pre-covid Egypt (2018\/2019) and comment on their ability (impact) to solve some of the aforementioned issues. In doing so, the report will delve into the distribution of investments in Egypt, focusing on the main investing entities and the sectoral distribution of their investments. It follows by discussing the geographical origins, choices and performance of foreign direct investments in Egypt. In addition, the report discusses Egypt\u2019s main trade partners while comparing Egypt\u2019s imports vis-a-vis its exports of commodities before finalizing with an analysis of free-zones\u2019 performance and outputs within Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n
